‘Shop Local’ voucher scheme to boost local business – Fitzpatrick

23rd June 2015 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Louth, Peter Fitzpatrick, has said that the new ‘Shop Local’ vouchers launched by Dundalk Chamber will boost local business.

“These vouchers are a great idea. They are a true indication of the entrepreneurial spirit, as well as the sense of community in Dundalk.

“Companies can buy ‘Shop Local’ vouchers as presents for staff or for clients and individuals can give them as gifts to family and friends.

“Over 100 businesses in and around Dundalk have already signed up so those who have a voucher have a huge selection when it comes to spending. Plus they are valid for 2 years giving plenty of time to decide.

“This scheme is all about buying local and supporting local business. Start-up companies in their first five years of existence account for two thirds of all new jobs created in Ireland so to say that local business is important is an understatement – local business is at the heart of our economy. Fine Gael is campaigning on behalf of small businesses through our Standing Up for Small Business campaign. We are asking businesses what supports they need and encouraging them to try new things. This is exactly the kind of proactive, forward thinking that Dundalk needs.

The vouchers can be bought online by logging on to at www.dundalk.ie/vouchers   and they are also on sale in Grants in Dublin St. and Mc Cusker’s in Earl St.
