O’Donnell encourages business people to attend Action Plan for Jobs forum in Limerick

15th April 2015 - Fine Gael Press Office

Fine Gael Limerick TD, Kieran O’Donnell has encouraged business people and all interested parties to attend the Stakeholder Forum for the Action Plan for Jobs the Mid-West   Region , tomorrow (Thursday) at 9am in the Strand Hotel Limerick.

“This   stakeholders ’ meeting will help inform the Action Plan for Jobs in the Mid-West region. Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton is leading a new initiative to develop and implement Regional Action Plans for Jobs throughout the country and I am delighted that  Limerick  is the venue for one of the main meetings.

“The national Action Plan for Jobs has overseen the creation of over 90,000 news jobs across the country since its launch in February 2012. While  Limerick  has seen some benefit, with the Live Register decreasing by 27% in that period, there is still a lot more we can do to create employment in the county and wider region.

“The Regional Action Plan for Jobs process will identify each region’s strengths, competitive advantages and areas of opportunity, and produce an action-oriented plan to support enterprise growth and jobs in the region.  Consultation with regional   stakeholders   from both the private and public sector will be a crucial part of the process.

“I encourage local business people to attend this meeting and get involved in improving Limerick’s employment prospects. We need to work together collectively to do everything we can to ensure the economic recovery benefits Limerick and the Mid-West region further.”
