Great news for Dundalk as 40 new jobs announced –D’Arcy

‘Prometric’s investment of over €3.5m is great news for Dundalk’, stated Senator Jim D’Arcy in relation to the announcement that US firm, Prometric, is to create 40 new jobs in the town.

‘Prometric is a top class employer that already provides over 100 well-paid jobs and these new jobs will provide a major boost to employment and the local economy.

‘At the announcement this morning I asked Prometric Chairman and Chief Executive Mr. Michael Brassick, how he found Dundalk as a location. He the said that Dundalk had proved an excellent location both in terms of the quality and commitment of the workforce. He also said that the company has received major support from the Local Authority, the Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and other local groups.

‘Prometric has been in Dundalk for 14 years and intend to not only stay for many years to come, but also to grow the business further.

‘It was also announced at the launch that Prometric is creating a research partnership with Dublin City University (DCU). Professor Brian Mc Grath, President of DCU and a native of Dundalk, detailed the €1 million research programme investment to establish DCU’s Centre for Assessment Research in Education (CARE). This fund will be used to develop tests that can better assess the preparedness of Irish students at all levels of education in the areas of critical thinking, skills assessment and knowledge recall.
