Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience records one millionth visitor in 2015 – Conway

14th September 2015 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael Senator for Clare, Martin Conway has congratulated management and staff at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience on recording their one millionth visitor in a calendar year at the world famous attraction this morning.

“I would like to congratulate the management and staff at the world Famous Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience who welcomed their one millionth visitor for 2015 this morning.
The one millionth visitor has arrived 36 days earlier in 2015 compared to 2014 and this signifies a 14.7% growth in visitor numbers to the facility so far this year. The visitor experience which has received many international awards is now one of Ireland’s top three visitor attractions and is on course to become number one.

“A number of Government initiatives have led to this growth in tourism numbers including the introduction of the 9% VAT rate for the industry, marketing initiatives such as the Gathering and in particular the phenomenally successful Wild Atlantic Way project together with the abolition of the air travel tax in the budget of 2013.

“Hotels and other accommodation providers, restaurants and other businesses involved in the tourism industry have described this year as extremely successful and hope this level of growth continues. I am expecting that Minister Noonan will announce a continuation of the 9% VAT rate and I am hoping that there will be further tourism initiatives announced in the upcoming budget.”
