Bannon congratulates almost 2,000 Longford/Westmeath Leaving certificate students
12th August 2015 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael TD for Longford/Westmeath, James Bannon has congratulated the 579 students in Longford and the 1,362 students in Westmeath, who this morning received their Leaving Certificate results.
“Almost 2,000 Leaving Certificate students, as well as 31 Leaving Cert Applied students in Longford/Westmeath, this morning received their results signifying the end of their second level education and the beginning of a new stage of their lives.
“I would like to congratulate everyone who sat the exams, and wish each and every one a successful, healthy and happy future.
“Those who achieved the top grades are to be commended for their hard work. I am sure that these results will lead to their chosen careers.
“For the students who are disappointed today, I would advise them to talk to family, friends and teachers. It is important to remember that the Leaving Certificate only examines a particular set of skills, and that there are other options open to them.
“Regardless of the results, all students should enjoy the celebrations in a reasonable and safe manner.”
