Yet another jobs boost for Dublin Docks with Airbnb expansion – Noone

4th April 2014 - Sarah Meade

Fine Gael Dublin Senator, Catherine Noone, has today (Friday) welcomed the announcement from Airbnb that it is expanding its presence in Dublin with the creation of 100 new jobs, adding that it is further proof that the Dublin Docks have developed a superb international reputation for being an ideal location for high growth and tech firms.

“It is fantastic news that Airbnb is doubling its European Headquarters in Dublin, and I was particularly pleased to hear the company’s chief executive, Brian Chesky, say that they came to Dublin in the first place because ‘it has hospitality in its DNA’.

“Airbnb is following in the footsteps of many of other high growth multinational firms which have expanded their operations here, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Dublin is now firmly established as being one of the premier tech hubs in Europe, which is delivering huge results for the city in terms of job creation.

“Airbnb has enjoyed hugely impressive success since it was set up in California in 2008. It provides a brilliant service for people who want to have an authentic experience in whatever city they are visiting. And, even better than that, it provides great value.

“Ireland is a great fit for Airbnb; we are not only known for our hospitality, but also for our love of travel. Airbnb has combined the community element of the interest with the global thirst for travel and discovery; and in the process the company has made going abroad easier and more affordable than ever.

“I would like to wish Airbnb all the very best with their expanded Dublin operations, and I hope we can look forward to further jobs announcements from the company in the future.”
