Taoiseach attending Special Meeting of the European Council

The Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, T.D. and Dara Murphy, T.D., Minister of State for European Affairs will travel to Brussels for the special meeting of the European Council today (Saturday, 30 August). A main focus of the meeting will be to elect the new President of the European Council and to appoint the new High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Heads of State and Government will also consider a number of external relations issues, including developments in Ukraine, the Middle East and the ebola virus in West Africa.
