PayPal has been a beacon of light in Dundalk

9th June 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael Senator, Jim D’Arcy, has welcomed the announcement that PayPal is creating 400 jobs over the next four years at its European operations centre in Dundalk, Co Louth.

“I am delighted at the news that 400 jobs are on the way for Dundalk. The positions will be in telesales, merchant services, cost solutions and risk operations. The roles are primarily English speaking which will offer great opportunities to the local community.

“PayPay has been a beacon of light to Dundalk as it has offered hope and inspiration to our young people that there is the potential for employment and career development right on their door step. In addition, I have no doubt that many local businesses have survived due to the economic impact of PayPal in our area.

“In 2012, the US firm announced the establishment of its European operations centre in Dundalk. At the time it said it would create 1,000 jobs by 2016. The additional jobs will bring combined PayPal and eBay employee numbers in Dundalk to 1,850 by 2018.

“Dundalk is a very important site in PayPal’s global operations. They are already ahead of schedule in recruiting first 1,000 teammates.

“I would like to thank Louise Phelan, Vice President of Global Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa on the commitment drive and vision that has led to this announcement of 400 jobs.”
