Minister Shatter welcomes the launch of the Child and Family Agency

Alan Shatter TD, Minister for Justice Equality and Defence, today welcomes the official launch of, Tusla, the Child and Family Agency.
Speaking today, Minister Shatter said, “Today is a great day for children. The establishment of the Child and Family Agency is a major milestone and represents the most significant and important structural change for the protection of children since the establishment of the State.
“Minister Frances Fitzgerald is to be warmly commended for her commitment and determination in delivering this critically important change.
“This establishment of the Agency and the publication of the General Scheme of the Children and Family Relationships Bill are practical examples of the implementation of the principles in the Children Referendum and deliver on key Programme for Government commitments to fundamentally reform and modernise the delivery of child protection services and children and family law.
“By bringing together a range of services under one roof, we can have a coherent and dedicated child support and protection system for the first time in the State.”
