Minister Noonan to meet European Colleagues in relation to early repayment of IMF Loans

Following on from Minister Noonan’s announcement in July in relation to his plans to refinance the IMF loans, the minister will be holding a series of meetings with the EU Commission, ESM, ECB and the President of the Eurogroup.
On Monday (8 th of September) Minister Noonan will travel to Brussels to meet EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Jyrki Katainen. This will be followed by meetings on Tuesday (9 th of September) with; Klaus Regling CEO of the ESM, Jeroen Dijsselbloem President of the Eurogroup and Mario Draghi President of the ECB.
The Minister will also be holding a series of meetings with EU Finance Ministers at the Informal Ecofin meeting in Milan on Friday and Saturday (12 th and 13 th of September). The meeting is taking place as part of the Italian Presidency of the European Council.
These meetings are taking place to seek the support of the relevant EU institutions and member states. This support is required to enable repayment of the loans.
