JenaValve announcement is major boost to Sligo – Henry

28th October 2014 - Daniel Rowan

Fine Gael Sligo Senator, Imelda Henry, has said that the decision by heart valve manufacturer, JenaValve, to establish manufacturing capabilities in Sligo will come as a massive boost to the county and the region. The news was announced by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD today (Monday) from east coast USA,  where he is leading a 5-day IDA investment mission seeking to win new projects for Ireland. The measure is being supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.

“This is fantastic news for Sligo and the wider region. While no jobs have been announced as yet, I am confident that jobs will be announced in due course. The medical devices sector was one sector that was identified by Government as having the potential for growth and job creation so it is great to see companies such as JenaValve choosing to establish in Sligo.

“The Government’s number one priority since coming to Office has been to get our people off the dole and back to work. By sticking to the plan we are now seeing real results. More than 70,000 jobs have been created since the Action Plan for Jobs and the Pathways to Work strategy were implemented.

“Ireland has a huge amount to offer to overseas companies. Our people are hard working, well educated, English speaking and talented.  We are becoming increasingly competitive and we have an extremely attractive corporation tax which continues to entice foreign direct investment.

“Minister Bruton and the IDA are to be congratulated for their great work in helping to bring JenaValve to Sligo. I look forward to more such companies choosing to locate in our city and I wish JenaValve every success for the years ahead.”
