Filtertek to add 35 new jobs in manufacturing expansion in Newcastle West – O’Donovan

7th October 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Limerick, Patrick O’Donovan, has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, that Filtertek Ireland are to create an additional 35 new jobs at their Newcastle West plant.

“This news, together with recent announcements in Limerick, proves that the recovery is now beginning to take hold in regional areas. It comes at a time of increased employment numbers in the medical devices sector and I hope to see further announcements of this nature in County Limerick in the coming months.

“We are very lucky in Newcastle West to have high quality employers like Filtertek, this is a major vote of confidence by Filtertek and the Government in Newcastle West, and as a local person representing the area I am delighted that this announcement has received support from Minister Bruton.

“We are very lucky in Limerick to have two third level institutions preparing people for employment in sectors such as medical devices. I hope that these institutions together with the ongoing support from the Government and IDA will be able to attract further employment into places like West Limerick. I believe that there are further opportunities that can be explored for county Limerick in the coming months, and I am in constant discussions with my colleague the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan TD who has been the driving force behind attracting foreign and direct investment into Limerick City and County.

“I sincerely hope that the expansion by Filtertek will be the catalyst for further investment in the area and I wish the company and its staff the very best in the future.”
