Exciting prospect of 500 new jobs for Cork – Murphy
27th January 2014 - Sarah Meade
Fine Gael Cork North Central TD, Dara Murphy, has today (Monday) said that the announcement from Tyco that it hopes to create 500 new jobs in Cork with establishment of a new business operations centre is a very exciting prospect for the city.
“This announcement is a great boost for Cork, especially considering the fact that Tyco closed its manufacturing operations in the city just a number of years ago. Today’s announcement makes it clear that Cork, and the country as a whole, has regained its competitiveness, and as a result is in a position to attract this kind of high quality investment.
“Ireland has developed a strong reputation for acting as a support hub for international companies; around 140 business support centres are already established here, and Tyco has said that this helped to bring the company back to Ireland. We’ve a great track record in supporting international companies and their clients, which is helping us to attract major investments.
“Tyco representatives have said that our expertise and culture of innovation are also major plus points; the Minister for Jobs, Richard Bruton TD, deserves to be commended in this regard. Through the Action Plan for Jobs Minister Bruton has placed a huge focus on enterprise and innovation; this is not going unnoticed by major international firms such as Tyco.
“The company is keen to hit the ground running with its new Cork facility, and it already has a dedicated website to build a local talent pool from a variety of backgrounds for the new posts. The positions will be across a range of functions including sourcing and procurement, customer service, research and development, information technology, and finance.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in applying to visit the company’s local career website at www.tycocareers-cork.com.”
