Doherty call for publication of Tara conservation and management plan
8th October 2014 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael TD for Meath East, Regina Doherty, has called on the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD, to publish the conservation and management plan for Tara.
“I am calling on Minister Humphreys to publish the conservation and management plan for Tara without delay. I understand that a draft conservation and management plan for the Hill of Tara, has been completed by the Discovery Programme and I believe that we need access to this plan as soon as possible.
“We have a totally underutilised public treasure in County Meath, it has been completely overlooked financially for many years and I believe that we now have an opportunity to rectify this.
“We have a responsibility to manage, protect and to promote the lands at Tara as best we can. There are massive opportunities to develop Tara as a key tourist and heritage attraction. I hope that the conservation and management plan for Tara will be made available in the very near future so planning for the area can commence.”
