Corcoran Kennedy congratulates Flanagan on appointment as Minister for Children
9th May 2014 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael TD for Laois Offaly, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has today whole heartedly congratulated and endorsed her constituency colleague Charlie Flanagan TD on his appointment as Minister for Children.
“Minister Flanagan has been working hard for the people of Laois Offaly for many years and it is extremely satisfying to see him being recognised today as he is elevated to senior office. Newly appointed Minister Flanagan has the credentials and the experience that will make him an extremely successful Minister for Children.
“I was delighted, three years ago, to second Minister Flanagan’s appointment as Chairperson of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party. In that role he has demonstrated strong leadership skills, he has proven himself an open minded and fair thinker, and I am sure that he will use these skills to great effect in his new role.
“The Department of Children is one which carries a lot of responsibility; this is an area where Minister Fitzgerald has made progressive change and one where I am confident Minister Flanagan will continue to break new ground.
“I look forward to working with and supporting Charlie Flanagan in his new capacity as Minister for Children.”
