Co. Louth to benefit from major US investment – Fitzpatrick
7th May 2014 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael TD for Louth, Peter Fitzpatrick, today (Wednesday) commended the work of the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton and his colleagues at Enterprise Ireland, following the announcement of a major US deal for Louth’s Suretank Engineering.
“Today it was announced that Suretank Engineering has secured a $4 million contract with Hoover Container Solutions Incorporated in Houston, Texas. This deal will see Suretank Engineering supply chemical transport containers for the safe transfer of chemicals for oil drilling to offshore deep-water rigs.
“Dunleer is home to the Head Office of Suretank Engineering’s worldwide operations, with the company supporting over 180 jobs in the locality. It is extremely encouraging to see the Government going abroad and bringing back major investment for Louth.
“This announcement comes alongside a €16 million investment, 20 new jobs and the celebration of 50 years in business in Drogheda for BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company and a long-standing fantastic employer in Co. Louth.
“As part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, we are focused on ensuring that growth and development is spread across all regions of the country. Louth has been badly hit by the recession, we are starting to see some improvement in economic conditions but more is needed. Companies like Suretank Engineering and BD expanding in Co. Louth is a major step in the right direction.
“We want to see growth in towns and villages, we want to support local business and in turn see more jobs being created. Today’s news of Suretank Engineering’s major deal with Hoover Container Solutions Inc in the US and BD’s expansion is testament to the skills on offer and the potential for investment in Louth.”
