Another step in the right direction as 350 new jobs announced for Cork – Buttimer

2nd May 2014 - Aoife Carragher

Fine Gael TD for Cork South Central, Jerry Buttimer, today (Friday) welcomed the announcement of 350 new jobs for Cork by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD and Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD.

“Cork is home to an extremely skilled work force. We have world class graduates coming out of University College Cork and Cork Institute of Technology, these young people need jobs and it is very encouraging that another company has chosen to expand their business in Cork.

“Today’s job announcement is a vote of confidence for Cork. Voxpro is clearly satisfied with the people of Cork, with the location and with their productivity. Voxpro started out on the banks of the Lee with 6 employees and following today’s announcement, they will be employing 850 people within the next three months and intend to increase this number to 1,000 internationally by the end of 2015.

“Voxpro is actively recruiting multilingual, technical positions who will support the company’s international growth strategy. International business currently represents more than 80% of the company’s overall turnover.

“The Government is dedicated to the goal of making the recovery local. Voxpro is an excellent example of a company seeking business abroad and supporting jobs at home.

“As part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, a real effort is being made to distribute growth across all regions of the country. Initiatives like the Local Enterprise Office launched this week, as well as IDA and Enterprise Ireland supported projects, are all resources available to businesses. These facilities are available to further assist with the economic recovery. Cork is beginning to benefit from an improvement in economic conditions but there is still a way to go. There is no doubt that announcements like that made today should be celebrated.
