Advice and expertise will be on offer for Galway businesses at one stop shop event – Kyne

5th February 2014 - Sarah Meade

Fine Gael Galway West TD, Sean Kyne, has today (Wednesday) said expertise and advice will be on offer for Galway businesses at an event to be held in the Radisson Blu Hotel on 25th March. The ‘Taking Care of Business’ event will provide potential entrepreneurs and existing small business owners with information on the State supports available to them.

The free half-day event will bring together 25 Government agencies and is being supported by the Small Firms Association, Chambers Ireland, the Irish Small and Medium Enterprise Association (ISME), RGData, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Hardware Association of Ireland. The initiative has been organised by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

“The Government has put a huge range of supports in place to make it easier to start a business, cut the cost of red tape, and streamline the regulatory environment. A series of schemes have also been established to help small businesses and start-ups to gain access to credit. However, sometimes getting to grips with all this information can be very daunting; the ‘Taking Care of Business’ event in Galway on March 25th will help aspiring and existing entrepreneurs to access the supports they need.

“State bodies including Enterprise Ireland, the Revenue Commissioners, Microfinance Ireland and the Office of Government Procurement will present information on the supports available to entrepreneurs, and representatives from each of these bodies will also be on hand to answer questions.

“The Government wants to communicate better with businesses, and make sure that all of the State supports on offer are being fully availed of. Two out of every three new jobs created come from start-up businesses in the first five years of their existence, so it’s really important that we fully support new businesses and help them to get off the ground.

“The Galway event will be addressed by the Minister for Training and Skills, Ciaran Cannon TD, and the businessman and Declan Dooley, Managing Director of the Galway Independent and Vice President of Galway Chamber of Commerce, will chair a presentation session. Information will be available on a wide range of areas such as access to finance, tax obligations, the legal requirements for running a business, and advice on government procurement.

“The face-to-face advice which will be on offer should be very useful for Galway entrepreneurs and businesses hoping to set up or expand their enterprise. I am encouraging businesses to register for the event now at www.takingcareofbusiness.ie.”
