New Information Centre will enhance tourist experience in Dun Laoghaire

2nd June 2013 - Deborah Sweeney

Fine Gael Dun Laoghaire Deputy, Mary Mitchell O’Connor, has said the opening of a Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in Dun Laoghaire will enhance the tourist experience for those visiting the area, while providing a forum for local businesses to promote themselves to visitors.

“A new TIC is due to open at the entrance to the County Hall on Marine Road. It will be open seven days a week from 11am-6pm, with hours being somewhat reduced during the winter months.

“This development is a great addition to the local area and will act as a focus for visitors who are hoping to avail of everything that the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area has to offer. The Centre will provide information on local tours, places to stay and to eat out, local festivals and activities that can be enjoyed in the area and details and locations of exhibitions and events that are taking place throughout the Dun Laoghaire area.

“Dun Laoghaire has developed hugely in recent years and the number of visitors to the area continues to grow year-on-year. The plans for the development of the Harbour area includes the creation of a world class 5,000 square metre Irish International Diaspora Centre on the historic Carlisle Pier, which will no doubt be a massive draw for tourists and visitors from across the country.

“The TIC will also provide a forum for local businesses to put their best foot forward and to provide the Centre with relevant information about the services they provide and the offers that are ongoing. I would encourage all local business owners to engage with the Centre so that it can compile a comprehensive database about what’s best to do and see while visiting Dun Laoghaire.”
