Meath organisations to share in over €116,000 in health funding – Butler

8th December 2013 - Sarah Meade

Fine Gael Meath West TD, Ray Butler, has today (Wednesday) welcomed more than €116,000 being allocated to 13 organisations in Meath to provide a range of services, including supports for elderly people, youth work and alcohol and drug treatment. The funding has been allocated by the Department of Health through National Lottery grants.

“This funding will make a huge difference to the organisations involved, and should allow them to continue their good work in the year ahead. National Lottery grants, allocated through the Department of Health, provide a very important source of funding for hundreds of organisations across the country.

“In Trim, the Family Resource Centre is to receive €1,500 towards the cost of starting a physical, safety and wellbeing programme for young adults. Meath Community Drugs and Alcohol response, also based in Trim, is receiving €5,815, while the Good Morning Positive Age group in Meath has been allocated €4,000 towards the cost of developing and improving the service.

“In Navan, the Women’s Refuge will receive €3,600 to improve counselling services and Meath Youth Federation will benefit from €8,350 towards the cost of running a First Responders Training course. The Meath Accessible Transport Project Ltd and MIDWAY will receive €20,000 each to buy new buses.

“A number of other organisations across the rest of the county are also set to benefit from funding, such as Meath Community Resources and Training Co. which will receive €10,000 towards the cost of funding a project to engage older men in activities linked to training and health programme.

“All of these organisations are providing wonderful services in the local community and I am delighted that they have been given a boost with this allocation of funding.”
