Conway welcomes end to industrial dispute at the Cliffs of Moher

Fine Gael Clare Senator, Martin Conway, has welcomed the resolution of the long running industrial dispute between staff and management at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience. Details of the settlement have not been released but both parties have reached agreement to end the dispute.

“I am delighted that agreement has finally been reached between management and staff at the Cliffs of Moher.   This dispute has been ongoing for a number of years, resulting in low morale among staff and a lot of time being lost on the disagreement.

“Staff at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience are wonderful ambassadors for Ireland, providing an excellent service to the hundreds of thousands of international visitors who come to the cliffs each year.   They have worked tirelessly in promoting a positive image of the cliffs and indeed Co. Clare and have developed a reputation of excellence within the industry. This is reflected in the high visitor numbers and the various awards the centre has won in recent years.

“Management have also had remarkable success in promoting the facility in a difficult and challenging economic environment.   In 2012, the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience attracted a massive 873,000 visitors, including the Vice President of China, who visited the cliff during his trip to Ireland. The cliffs also performed strongly in the Seven Wonders of Nature Competition last year.

“In the year of The Gathering it is very important that all parties in one of the country’s top tourism attractions are all working together to present a strong and positive image of Ireland. With this dispute finally put to bed all parties involved in this wonderful facility can now redouble their efforts in playing their part in the economic recovery of the county and the country.”
