Coffey welcomes €100,000 worth of capital funding for youth cafes in Waterford City

1st December 2013 - Deborah Sweeney

Fine Gael Waterford Deputy, Paudie Coffey, has today (Wednesday) welcomed news from the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, France Fitzgerald TD, that €100,000 has been allocated for the development of two youth cafes in Waterford City. Deputy Coffey had previously made representations to Minister Fitzgerald in relation to this matter.

“There will be two youth cafes that will benefit from this funding. Fifty thousand euro is being made available to Foróige Waterford City and also to Ballybeg Community Development Project, bringing the total funding for Waterford to €100,000. This is welcome news and indicates the commitment of this Government to improving and developing facilities for young people across Waterford.

“This capital funding will allow for the development of improved facilities for the young people of Waterford City, giving them a safe and alcohol free environment in which to hang out. I am glad that my representations have reaped results and I know the organisations receiving this funding will put it to excellent use and the new facilities will be greatly appreciated by all those who avail of them.”
