Parliamentary Question addressed to the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform
2nd February 2013 - Olivia Mitchell TD
To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will provide, in tabular form, the figures for pay and pensions to the Public Service for the month of January in 2011, 2012 and 2013; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Reply
Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform (Brendan Howlin):
The figures set out in the table below are as notified by Departments and Offices. Note that pay and pension payments in a given month are a function of the number of pay and pension recipients in that month and the number of payment dates during the month. The timing of non-core or lump sum payments can also affect the comparability of data for periods that are shorter than a year. The end-January 2013 data is shown on a preliminary basis.
