Huge boost for Airfield after re-purchase of Dudley’s field
31st May 2012 - Olivia Mitchell TD
Fine Gael TD for Dublin South Olivia Mitchell has expressed her delight at the news that Airfield Trust has bought back Dudley’s field, which was formerly part of the Airfield Farm & Gardens.
“Airfield Trust sold Dudley’s field in 2005 in order to raise vital funds for the refurbishment and safeguarding of the Estate’s future.
“It is amazing that Airfield has been able to buy back this 3.5 acre piece of land. I know that the local community were disappointed that the land had to be sold in the first place and were worried about the future use of the land.
“I’m glad that the current difficult economic climate has allowed for this good story to emerge.
“It is excellent news that Dudley’s field will now be integrated back into the Estate. The re-purchase safeguards the future of the land and will undoubtedly enhance the entire Airfield Estate, which is in the process of being significantly upgraded. The public can now more than ever look forward to the Estate’s reopening in 2013.”
