End of an Era as Churchtown Driving Test Centre closes
21st June 2012 - Olivia Mitchell TD
Speaking following the announcement of the closure of the Churchtown driving test centre, Fine Gael TD for Dublin South Olivia Mitchell described the news as the end of an era.
“Every family in the area is familiar with the driving centre in Churchtown. It has been a part of our own and our children’s lives and its closure marks the end of an era.
“Unfortunately the lease is expiring on 31 August and the OPW, which leases the centre on behalf of the Road Safety Authority, have been given notice to quit following expiry of the lease.
“From now on tests will take place in the nearby centres on Orwell Road, Rathgar and Broomhill Road, Tallaght and existing staff will be transferred to those centres to meet demand.
“Thankfully, test applicants currently scheduled to take their test in Churchtown and who have familiarised themselves with the surrounding roads will still be able to take their test at the Churchtown Centre.
