New fee structure to benefit electrical contractors -Flanagan

31st July 2013 - Charles Flanagan TD

Laois TD Charlie Flanagan has welcomed the reduction in fees payable for contractor licences issued by the Private Security Authority. The PSA has to date licensed contractors in the cash in transit, door supervisor, security guarding and installer of security equipment sectors.

“This issue was first brought to my attention last year by a number of electrical contractors in Laois that were facing levies in excess of €2,250 for a licence that would be valid for 2 years. These costs would have added an unnecessary burden onto these businesses and I am pleased that following my representations to the PSA that the review of the licence fee means that the contractors who operate across multiple sectors of the security industry will benefit from changes to the fee”

“The new fee structure is to be applied retrospectively from 1 January 2013. As a result, any contractor who falls into this category and who paid the higher fee in respect of an
application made or licence granted on or after 1 January 2013 but who would now be eligible for the lower fee, will be refunded the difference, which will allow them to benefit from the new lower revised fees structure.
