Fuel rebate extended to coach operators- Flanagan
4th February 2013 - Charles Flanagan TD
Laois TD and Fine Gael Party Chairman Charlie Flanagan has welcomed the decision by Minister Noonan to extend the fuel rebate to private coach operators in the county. Deputy Flanagan was speaking after the publication of the Finance Act last week which saw a number of measures included to boost tourism numbers and support the SME sector.
“The decision by Minister Noonan to extend the fuel rebate to private coach operators is a positive move. I had been in contact with both Minister Noonan and Minister Varadkar outlining the benefits of extending the rebate to offset the rise in the cost of diesel for hauliers, bus and coach operators. This measure should boost job creation and allow for further stimulus in the tourism sector during the year of The Gathering”
The rebate will be worth up to 7.5 cent per litre, depending on the price at which the fuel is bought.
Other measures included in the Finance Bill were aimed at supporting the agricultural sector
“This Bill allows for the measure announced in the Budget which will enable farm restructuring. Capital Gains Tax relief will be available where the proceeds of a sale of farm land are reinvested for restructuring purposes. The Finance Bill also extends the general 25% rate and the 100% young trained farmer rate of stock relief and the young trained farmer from stamp duty on transfers of agricultural land to 31st December 2015”
“Agriculture and tourism are two sectors that are experiencing year on year growth and ensuring that the country is in a position to capitalise on future development and growth is of particular importance. These measures will directly assist in supporting and maintaining job creation.”
