Funding for watermains rehabilitation contract in Maynooth will be of major benefit for local residents – Durkan
Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Bernard J Durkan, has today (Wednesday) warmly welcomed the announcement by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan TD, that funding has been allocated to allow Kildare County Council accept tenders for a watermains rehabilitation contract in Maynooth, under the Department of Environment’s Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2013.
“People in Maynooth have been suffering for a number of years from burst water pipes in the Parsons Street/Leinster Street part of the town. The upgrade to the watermains is long overdue and will dramatically improve the reliability and quality of water in the area.
“I commend Minister Hogan for finding the funding for this project in these challenging economic times. He recognises the importance of ensuring that basic services such as water must be maintained and improved where necessary so that residents can rely on the water supply available to them and that leakage is dramatically reduced.”
