Progress with Expansion of Leixlip Water Treatment Plant
22nd December 2011 - Senator Anthony Lawlor
Kildare North TD, Anthony Lawlor, today (Wednesday) welcomes an announcement by Minister Phil Hogan to approve funding enabling Fingal County Council to accept a tender for the expansion of the Leixlip Water Treatment Plant. The contract, which is valued at €29.7 million, is being funded by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.
“The Leixlip plant, which also caters for providing drinking water supplies to North-East Kildare, has undergone significant upgrading and upsizing over time in response to extra demand resulting from population growth and economic development in the Greater Dublin Area. The Minister’s approval will allow Fingal County Council to complete the contract formalities with the successful tenderer, with construction commencing as quickly as possible.
“This project will be of huge benefit to both households and businesses in the North Kildare area and I look forward to it’s final completion” concluded Anthony Lawlor TD.
