28 new jobs at Patterson Pumps clear evidence Mullingar and Midlands now feeling the recovery – McFadden
14th September 2015 - Aoife Carragher
Fine Gael TD for Longford/Westmeath, Gabrielle McFadden, has said that the 28 new jobs at Patterson Pumps is clear evidence Mullingar and the midlands are now feeling the recovery.
“The creation of 28 new jobs by Patterson Pumps Ireland, based at the IDA Business Park, Marlinstown, Mullingar, is a huge vote of confidence for Mullingar and the midlands. The new jobs will be created as the result of a significant investment in a new manufacturing facility.
“The expansion by this world leading manufacturer of fire protection pumps is clear recognition of Mullingar’s talented skillsbase, and of course, its central location and good infrastructure, which includes an excellent road network.
“As a local Government TD, one of my key priorities is to make sure that the economic recovery starts to find its way to this region as quickly as possible. That is why I have worked with my colleagues in Government and with the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton to support the first of the Government’s Regional Action Plan for job action plans which was launched in the midlands in June.
“Part of the preparation for that launch of the regional plan took place at a Midlands Regional Enterprise Forum in Athlone at the end of last year. The forum brought together a wide range of key State agency and business stakeholders and explored the strengths and opportunities that can be built upon to support enterprise and jobs growth in the region.
“I am now delighted that Patterson Pump Ireland, which has a strong association with Mullingar since 1998, will be adding another 28 jobs to its current workforce of 37 people. Today’s news sends out a clear message that Mullingar and the midlands is an excellent location to invest.
“As a Government TD, the work continues to ensure that this region continues to reap the benefits of the economic recovery.”
