200 new jobs with €10m investment by VistaMed great news for Carrick-on-Shannon – McLoughlin

Fine Gael TD for Sligo-Leitrim, Tony Mc Loughlin has welcomed the news that global medical device company VistaMed is to invest €10 million and create 200 new jobs in Carrick-on-Shannon.

“I’m delighted that today VistaMed has announced the creation of 200 new jobs at the official opening of its new state-of-the-art Research and Development facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

“This announcement is part of a new investment programme of more than €10 million, supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland. The announcement was made by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor.

“This will bring the total number of jobs at the leading medical device company to 525, comprising a mix of positions, from engineering staff to product builders. VistaMed is also expanding its current manufacturing facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim by a further 45,000 square foot. VistaMed is the leading Irish catheter and extrusion provider to the global medical device industry,

“Recruitment for the 200 positions is ongoing, with 37 of these jobs now in place. All positions are expected to be filled by the end of 2018.

“This is great news for Carrick-on-Shannon. The jobs and investment are a huge boost for the area and a strong endorsement of the skilled workforce, facilities and services available.

“It is also proof that the Government’s Regional Jobs Plan is working and investment is coming to the regions.”
