Over 10,000 new dads have taken paid Paternity Leave
Dads are spending more time with their newborns
7th April 2017 - Frances Fitzgerald MEP and Leo Varadkar, TD
Fine Gael introduced paid Paternity Leave in September 2016. This provides two weeks’ benefit, currently paid at the weekly rate of €235 per week, to support fathers in caring for their newly born babies.
The number of fathers who have been received the benefit to date has passed 10,000 (exact figure is 10,643).
Families are at the forefront of our priorities. We plan to share the benefits of our return to economic growth with ordinary families by improving childcare, education, healthcare, and services for those in their better years.
